Copy Editing

Copy Editing

You need another set of eyes to review your manuscript. I’m here, not only to look at your writing, but to help you look at the future to see the possibilities for your work.

It’s time to go through the editing process. Let’s see how we can enhance your writing, together.

Do you need copy editing?

You’ve written your story.

You’ve put in the hard work, the long hours, and the dedication.

Now, it’s time to sit back and relax while Enhanced Edits takes over!

Copy editing is the first major step in the editing process. Looking through the text with a eye for detail requires time and skill, and I’ve been able to assist numerous authors in the past with this part of their journey. If you’re ready to move forward with Enhanced Edits, I’d be happy to put in the work for you now, too!

While copy editing, I’ll be focusing primarily on components that include:

Style Consistency
  • Tone
  • Word choice
  • Any special formatting used in the story
Content accessibility
  • Age appropriateness
  • Technical terms that need to be explained more in depth
Sentence Structure
  • The arrangement of words in a sentence
  • Punctuation
Continuity of Correct Tense
  • Ensuring that the story doesn’t start in one tense and accidentally switch into another a few paragraphs later
Point of View
  • Focusing on whether the story uses the same point of view throughout (if intended to do so)
  • If using more than one point of view, ensuring seamless transitions
Word Count
  • Appropriateness of word count for manuscript type
Spelling
  • Typos
  • Correct usage and spellings of homophones
